Beginnings

It all started in Ohio with this guy. William Summers who was born in August of 1810 in area that is now Logan County. Not much is known about his early years as the records are scarce. I have found tax records that potentially match him in Logan County around his 20th year. At some point he moved to Crawford County and eventually married a Martha Ritchey in 1834. Wyandot County was formed in 1845 from parts of Crawford, Hardin, Hancock, Marion and Seneca Counties. It was here that he and Martha raised their family. Records indicate that there were eight children born to their union. My direct ancestor was their son Francis Wayne who preferred to be called Wayne.

According to census records, William lived in Wyandot County until his death in December of 1882.

I plan to add more details of his life as they become available. They will be posted at a later time.
